Le Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval

PROJECT

With the rebranding of the incredible french monument Le Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval, it was imperative to redesign a website that reflected the mysterious and magical place that is the palace. The monument, an idea and work of only one man, is no longer just an amazing building, but evolved to become a cultural hub and the background to multiple cultural events, from concerts to art exhibitions.

The old website was no longer representative of what the palace has become and needed to be reorganised. I aimed to design a website more in-line with the new branding, that seamlessly integrated several types of information, for different types of audiences, creating an experience that had a highlight in the busy cultural life of “Le Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval”.

By analysing the old website we created a new information architecture, with four main parts: information about different types of visits, history of the building, cultural programme and how to prepare your visit. In the homepage we also have immediate access to important information such as daily schedule, address and a way to buy tickets.

One of the most important aspects of the new website was a way to keep bringing people to the space. So, in the programme section, to accommodate both one-time events and several-month long exhibits, we incorporated a choice to two types of views: a card view or a schedule one. This way, the user can better visualise what is happening in the Palace at any given time.

The new website resulted in a much more immersive experience, with several layers of information ready to be accessed by regular visitors, tourists or historians alike. A place where, anyone interested in the magnificent work of art, that is Le Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval, is welcomed.
